Symantec not updating
(I am getting an "ntvdm encountered a hard error" when I try to).(The i32 executable does not produce this error only the x86 executable.)Is Symantec Anti Virus Scan Engine for Windows the same thing as the Symantec Scan Engine?Visit our knowledge base for more information on Symantec VIP components to determine which ones you use.You can obtain the most recent virus definitions (also known as protection files or pattern files) from Symantec in several ways.I've got several questions about the Symantec Scan Engine.I've posted these questions to Symantec and still waiting on answers.Where exactly does the Scan Engine get the updates from? When I log into the Symantec Scan Engine 5.1 web page and select Home on the left side of the page the "Date of Virus Definitions" is May of 2008. Edition 10.1.7.7000) definition is dated Feb 11, 2010.
"Download Live Update Content" shows that Live Update starts, checks for updates and does/does not download them as appropriate. I haven't tried to download the definitions on any of the clients themselves as it kind of defeats the object of having a managed solution!Running Live Update (the first option below) is usually the easiest and most effective, but other options are available.Using one method of updating does not preclude the other.I have reinstalled both manager and client, I have searched this forum and Google but have found nothing that helps!Other details, such as policy updates, enable/disable features, etc all work from the server to the client.
